About South x Southwest Fine Art

“Nothing on this planet has a greater call to action than the preservation of our National Parks and Native American lands.  Living in Santa Fe, New Mexico allows me to create emotional photographs which I hope allow the viewer to transcend . Whether it be experiencing nature or walking in the shoes of a different culture, all living things are connected. Hopefully my photographs reflect the feeling I had while creating these images.

Jeff Neumann is a notable motion picture and television photographer. His many assignments include the award winning, “Ray Donovan” series on Showtime, as well as, the critically acclaimed series, “Billions”.  Jeff’s close and intimate work with Warner Bros., Apple+, Netflix, Showtime, Hulu, Amazon, CBS, FOX, NBC and other notable TV Networks has been a successful twenty-five year career for him.  His publicity photographs have frequently been published in; New York Times, The Post, NY Daily News, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Time, Wall Street Journal, Variety, Worth, Forbes, Vulture, Getty Images and Vanity Fair, not to exclude dozens of online and world magazines.

Yet, what caused Jeff to pick up a camera at age 9 has continued to be his first love… Landscapes.  During his entertainment travels abroad and across America, Jeff was fortunate enough to have time to photograph the beautiful and complex landscapes that crossed his path.  In the last few years, Jeff regained his passion for the open range, putting forth his energy to move to and concentrate on the Southwest.  The calling was absolute and his dedication is clear.  The need to walk amongst nature’s gifts and not always on a Hollywood Studio lot was a no brainer.  He followed his passion and enriched his life.  As a long time photographer for over 30 years plus, illumination does reinvigorate the soul.  And his obsession and love for the earth’s wondrous terrain is proudly shown in detail and luster for anyone who adores the meditative connections to this planet.

Details & Process Of The Print

The Personal Hand Print

Jeff personally prints and develops every one of his photographs.  He will never outsource (Farm Out) his artwork to third party companies to be re-produced.  In his personal opinion, this is a massive part of being a traditional photographer.  From beginning concepts, the darkroom & digital edits, and completion toward the final print. This vital process is being true to the craft. Most will find this debatable and inconsequential, but in the end, this method is everything about being a photographer.  The complete journey creates the truest connection a photographer can have with his art and collectors.

The chosen Print Paper is blending the traditional look and feel of a silver halide darkroom paper with a true 100% cotton fiber base.  The smooth satin paper ensures longevity, and as a side effect, provides rich blacks with a brightness of 85% and a whiteness of 82%.   Additionally, it is acid and lignin free and pH buffered.  Jeff specifically chose a paper manufacturer from France that estimates a 400 year life span before showing any signs of fading, (if properly handled and preventing direct sunlight when hung on your wall.)

The Photograph will usually offer an approximate 3 - 4" white border around the image size.

The Archival Pigment Print

Photograph origins were either taken with an analog film camera: (Deardorff 8X12, Leica M6,7, Hasselblad, Pentax 6x7) or a high end 100mp Digital Camera.  All photographs are printed in Jeff’s studio on a professional size printer.  Jeff uses archival UltraChrome® HDX ink and personally prints on archival, acid free paper.  The master prints are mostly Limited Editions and each photograph is numbered unless noted as an Open Edition.
